Diversify – The Key to Blogger Longevity?

General Assembly Blogging for Business Event

General Assembly Business of Blogging Event

Years ago when bloggers first captured the world’s media, surprising us with their large and loyal audiences, some were quick to criticise, predicting they wouldn’t last.

They’ve done more than just last.

Bloggers are evolving. They are business savvy. They are innovative. They are engaging. They’re kind, cheering on others to strive for greatness.

I’ve been a journalist for most of my career so I’m used to seeing some egos, some knifes in the back, which is why it is so refreshing to see bloggers unite.

Back in 2012 when The Remarkables launched the first Australian blogger talent agency the critics reared their heads again, stripping bloggers of integrity.

But their audience gave them the credit they deserved.

Bloggers have shown their appreciation by jumping on a treadmill to run down new ideas and surprise their audience. They are diversifying.

Blogging sisters Sammy and Bella who inspire us to rediscover our family traditions and heritage through food are doing just that.

The My Kitchen Rules winners have a boutique catering business, a Pop Up Burger Bar, The Saucy Sisters sauce range, as well they’re resident foodies on popular television shows.

Despite their ridiculously busy schedule they took time out to inspire up and coming bloggers at the Blogging for Business General Assembly event last week in Sydney.

Their advice – work hard, blog about your passion and diversify.

Mia Freedman Leaves Bad Taste in Mouths of Bloggers
